5K is a mostly flat, out and back route to the Fairfax Falls dam, appealing to recreational runners and walkers out for fun, or to speedsters seeking a PR.10K course continues uphill past the dam, followed by a nice flat stretch past pretty River Berry Farm, turns around back to hilly Chaffee Road, on to Sheperdson Hollow Road, into shady wooded hills, then back to the start. Roads are asphalt and hard-packed dirt surfaces. Race course map (Return to top) Food and PrizesFirst place male and female in each race category will receive prizes. All particpants are entitled to delicious omelets cooked on site, courtesy of Henry Antonovich and friends. Beverages and other post-race treats will also be available. Random drawing for all others. (Return to top) LocationTRADITIONAL UNITED CHURCH AND RIVER ROAD START FOR 2008Parking is at BFA Fairfax School on Hunt St. There is NO PARKING at or around the Church! Restrooms available across the hall from the Town Library, just inside the school building on the right. NEW THIS YEAR: Portolets! Race start is promptly at 9AM, on River Road, across from the Fairfax United Church. IMPORTANT: ALLOW PLENTY OF TIME to park, use the restroom, walk to the church, and if necessary, register! Getting to Fairfax: From Essex, Jericho: Rte. 128 through Westford to its end at Rte. 104 in Fairfax, then slight left on 104 to village. From Burlington, Williston, Richmond, Montpelier: I-89 Exit 18 (Georgia/Fairfax), right on Rte. 7, left on Rte. 104A, then right on Rte. 104 to Fairfax village. From St. Albans: I-89 Exit 19 (St. Albans south), then left on Rte. 104 to Fairfax. From Cambridge, Jeffersonville, Johnson, Underhill: From Rte. 15 just south of Cambridge, take Rte. 104 to Fairfax. There will be Male and Female divisions within each event, as well as age groups (see registration forms for details).** Please note: The 5K Walk event is reserved for those planning to walk the entire distance. Out of respect for the competitive and recreational racewalkers, do not run if registered as a walker. Race Weekend Volunteers Many more people will graciously help out on race weekend. Make sure to say "thanks" when you run by or see them at work. Race participants can volunteer as well, before and after the race (every little bit helps!). Family members or spectators coming to watch might also want to volunteer to man a water station or intersection, work the food tent, or take part in other fun activity.
