Don't waste your time exercising.

Your body's response to exercise and diet is complex, and depends on many variables.

Do you really know what you're doing?

Can you meet your goals, without getting discouraged or hurt?

Your goal might be as simple as losing a few pounds, or as complex as running a marathon. Reaching it will require a large commitment of time and energy. Many people give up because they lose motivation, fail to see results, get confused, or suffer an injury. Why does this happen?

Our bodies are complex chemical, mechanical, neurological, and psychological mechanisms. Making controlled and purposeful changes requires carefully stressing your muscles, bones, connective tissues, and cardiovascular systems so that they adapt positively. There are many variables that must be manipulated to get it right:
  • Type of exercise (strength, endurance, flexibility)
  • Body area targeted (primary and supporting muscle groups)
  • Intensity of exercise (speed, weight, resistance)
  • Equipment used (free weights, machines, body-weight, etc.)
  • Total work done (weight, miles, etc.)
  • Work to rest ratio during sessions
  • Variation of work and intensity over the long term
  • Rest taken between sessions
  • Nutrients consumed before and after training

Effective trainers provide customized plans that define and optimize these variables for your specific body type, schedule, commitment and goals. They are effective listeners, motivators, coaches, and teachers. They are well educated in all areas of fitness, nutrition, and human movement, and are up to date with current scientific findings and popular trends and literature. They have successfully met their own fitness or competitive goals and potential, and have experienced both the pains and rewards of training.

Whether you belong to a gym, train at home or outdoors, or have never seriously exercised, I will use my knowledge and experience to develop a plan that is tailored to your needs, and motivate you to stick with it to reach your goals.
